Beauty and Bounty at SAM

For art that captures the particular beauty of this area of the country, take a look at "Beauty and Bounty: American Art in the Age of Exploration" at the Seattle Art Museum (through Sept. 11.) The exhibit features over 100 works of 19th- and early 20th-century paintings.

Painters include Sanford Gifford, Thomas Moran, and Albert Bierstadt, who painted Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast, owned by SAM. There are also about 60 landscape photographs of early western photographers, including Carleton Watkins, Edward Muybridge, and Timothy O’Sullivan.
