Dining en Plein Air

Seattleites know that summer is the best part of the year, the time when you forget about the months of drizzle recently escaped. Enjoy the outdoors with a day trip to a winery or a local park with a view of the Olympics. And make sure to pack some treats to go.

Clockwise, from top left: Laguiole Natura three-piece cheese knife set, $29.95 at Crate and Barrel; Go-Vino 4-Pack unbreakable wine glasses, $12.95 at Mrs. Cooks; Washington Plyboo Cutting Board, $40 at Etsy; Blue and White Checkered Tablecloth, $24.95 to $49.95 at Sur la Table; Vintage Picnic Basket, $28 at Etsy.

For a good guide to local wineries, check out the Washington State Wine Commission's website, which allows you to map out a winery trail and even find a local bed and breakfast if you want to make a gourmet weekend of it. Just don't forget the Beecher's.

  1. I got a friend one of those Washington state cutting boards for Christmas, and it was a big hit. Totally recommend it.
